Two states are different. Florida and Virginia run a no-fault program for a narrow group of severe injuries, instead of the ordinary civil route. 1 2

Why some deadlines are missing

A filing deadline is set by state law, and getting it wrong has permanent consequences.

We printed a statute citation only where we could tie it to the state's own published code. That was 10 of the 51 jurisdictions. For the rest, the page says so. We did not print anything we could not verify. 4

Even where a citation is printed, it is a starting point rather than an answer. Statutes change. Courts interpret them. Deadlines turn on the facts of your case.

Why there are no state birth statistics here

This site does not republish per-state birth statistics, because we could not verify 51 states against a primary source during this build.

Instead, every state hub links to the agencies that publish them. March of Dimes PeriStats and CDC WONDER both show the source and year. 5 6

That is slower for you than a number on a page. It is also the only version we can stand behind.
